Lacanche
A typical small industrial town from the 1920's. Some of its streets went directly throught the factory.
The church is neoclassical in style nicknamed -shoes box-. It was built between 1841 and 1844, inside there are frecoes which are protected  as historical monuments.
Lacanche is classified as a "village fleuri" and has many beautiful bourgeoises mansions.

It is also the home of the famous Lacanche range cookers affectionately known as gastronomic pianos !



Nearby is Maligny and the former hiding place of the resistance in W.W.II. (maquis Nasica).
With two walking and mountain bike circuits of 7 and 9 kms (each sighposted).




Saint-Prix-les-Arnay
The particularity of this village is that it is cut in half by the N6 highway.
The church dates from the 13th century and has a typical burgundian quarter round cornice.

Also of note :  Ferme du Colombier - fresh nfarm cheese and cream



The commune of Foissy is traversed by two hiking cicrcuits of 10,5 and 12 kms.



Close to the village of Mimeure you will find the 15th century Contaut chapel (visible only from the outside). This is the site of a famous battle involving the future king Henri IV during the religious wars (1570).



The commune of Voudenay has a castle (now private) as well as romanesque church dating from 12th century.

Also of note : 2 signposted hiking circuits of 9,5 and 10 kms.


In Clomot you will find a romanesque church classified a historical monument and the private château du Rousset surrounded by its towers one of which has a latern on top.

The château de Promenois (private) situated in Jouey has been restored to its regence style splendour the oldest part dates from the 16th century.

In the Buan forest, there are hiking circuits (11 and 8,5 kms)




The church of Viévy dates from the 14th and 15th century. It was built in sandstone. The village has 17 hamlets. One of them, Dracy Chalas has fortified houses and a 9th century chapel whose bell its said has always had the power to drive away tempests ! During storms a man would ring the bell to protect the hamlet from the high winds.

Of note : If you like sport, there is an archery center for both beginners and the advanced  Bourgogne Archerie



The village of Magnien has a romanesque church with a gothic bell and a burgundian comice.

In the hamlet of Maizières (traversed by an 8km walking circuit) there is a well known spiring of great repute, moreover curious hikers may discover the chapel Saint Léger which was built in the woods.

The source of the Arroux river springs from a romanesque well at the Bize farm near  Culêtre.

The church Vieux Saint-Pierre
at Saint-Pierre-en-Vaux with its very high 11th century nave, dates originally from the 9th century. The church is situated in a green wooded valley and in the summer, walkers can discover its 12th century alter and a statue dating from the 15th century inside.
In front there is a beautiful 15th century calvary.

In the hamletof Vellerot ramblers can find a private castle with both round nd octogonal towers.

The château de Coutivert was built amidst vast gardens in 1820. Located in Musigny it is framed by two large 19th century towers, it is at present an educational institution.
